About Mahdi and the project
Mahdi developed KiwiVPN as a practical way to bring together research, web development and everyday networking concepts. The goal is to turn technical information into something visitors can understand and use, without exaggerating what an IP address or an online lookup can reveal.
The project was shaped around topics commonly covered in school and university computing studies, including web development, internet protocols, IP addressing, geolocation data, user experience and privacy-aware design. What KiwiVPN does
The website provides a public IP checker, an IP lookup tool and educational guides about networking and online privacy. Depending on the available provider response, a lookup may show a public IP address, network provider and an approximate region or time zone.
KiwiVPN is an information and education website, not a VPN service that routes or encrypts your internet traffic. Opening this website alone does not hide your IP address or replace a VPN application.
How the IP lookup works
When you use the lookup tool, your browser requests network information from an IP geolocation provider. KiwiVPN uses provider fallbacks so that an outage at one service may not prevent a basic lookup from working. The result is displayed in your browser without requiring you to create an account.
Geolocation describes the likely region associated with an internet connection or provider record. It is not a GPS reading and can be inaccurate, outdated or affected by VPNs, mobile networks and provider routing. It should not be used to identify a home, prove where a person is, or make decisions about someone's trustworthiness.
